Promoseven Holdings chief executive Akram Miknas was named by UAE-based media publication Arabian Marketer as its 2018 Person of the Year during an event in Dubai. Although I have diversified into numerous other fields in recent years I will first and foremost always consider myself an ad-man said Mr Miknas. Thus recognition from my peers and from influential advertising and marketing publications like Arabian Marketer mean a lot to me. Mr Miknas is also the chairman of Middle East Communications Network (MCN) which is one of the leading advertising and marketing communications agency networks in the Middle East and North Africa region. Behind every individual success story is a world-beating team and I would not be where I am today without a fantastic army of incredibly talented co-workers and employees along with many others who have supported me when the going got tough and not to mention the unstinting love and backing of my family. Mr Miknas added that the private sector in the Arab world has expanded tremendously in recent years but there is not enough to offer tangible opportunities for millions of new graduates and school-leavers each year. In many communities lack of opportunities leads to desperation and even radicalisation which in turn undermines our social fabric and holds the Arab world back. Yet this masks a deeper truth: Unless we work harder to stimulate a flourishing economy and career opportunities for our young people across the entire region less fortunate corners of the Arab world will never escape this vicious circle of social divisions and economic stagnation.
