Bahraini authorities said work was progressing well on the Phase One of its Khalifa Town development, which upon completion will boast a total of 1,560 housing units, said a report.

Presently more than 400 residential apartments in the town are ready for handover, reported BNA.

Housing Minister Bassim bin Yacoub Al Hamer visited the work site to review the project progress. The visit of the minister coincides with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, on the distribution of ready-made units in Khalifa Town and the implementation of the order of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander First Deputy Prime Minister on the distribution of 5,000 housing units.

Al Hamer briefed ministry officials and engineers on the ongoing work, both in the construction of the units and in the infrastructure works, reported BNA.

The technical team reported that the ministry has already achieved the completion rates in 421 housing units in the town and the works of the infrastructure, which contributed to the start of delivery of units to beneficiaries, it stated.

Al Hamer also reviewed the progress of work in the other site in the town, which is witnessing the implementation of 862 units and 192 apartments, a project whose rates are close to completion by the end of this year, said the report.

He also visited the work site, which witnessed the implementation of 120 housing units in accordance with the building models prepared by the Prince Charles Foundation for Building Community, an advisory institution that has prepared the general and detailed plans for the project, it added.
