Alba completes 5 million hours without LTI

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based international aluminium smelter, has announced a major safety milestone as its Casthouse by successfully achieving 5 million hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI) on November 5.

A celebration was held on the same day to appreciate the Casthouse employees, which was attended by Alba’s deputy chief executive officer Ali Al Baqali; chief power officer Amin Sultan; chief administration officer Waleed Tamimi; director of casthouse Abdul Rasool Ahmed Abdul Rasool; manager legal Stephanus Grobler and other officials, said a statement from the company.

Alba, in line with its 2017 Expectation ‘Safety TomorrowLand’, continuously maintains safety awareness campaigns all around the year, through the weekly Monday safety hours, safety talk before each shift, annual or department-led SHE Week, safety reviews and observations, site visits amongst others, it said.

Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray said: “At our company, we believe that all work-related injuries and illnesses are preventable.”

“This is a significant accomplishment for us and testifies our unwavering commitment to safety and health practices at all times.
