Eid celebrations kick off in Bahrain, GCC

Bahrain has declared Friday (June 15) as the first day of Eid Al Fitr after official announcements were made in Saudi Arabia of sightings of the new Shawwal crescent. UAE has also announced that Eid will begin tomorrow.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Council (SCIA) moon-sighting committee announced that tomorrow, Friday, will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr, reported BNA.

The SCIA congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

The panel, which met at the (SCIA) headquarters, announced the advent of Eid Al-Fitr, based on the Saudi confirmed sighting of the Shawwal moon, said the report.

 The council also extended Eid Al-Fitr congratulations to the Royal Family, the loyal people of Bahrain and to the Islamic World, praying to Allah the Almighty to bless the Arab and Islamic nations with peace, security and prosperity, it added.
