Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based aluminium smelter, has appointed Mohamed Khalil Saeed as its director of safety, health and environment (SHE).

The decision was made at the board meeting that was held on May 9, said a statement from Alba.

Saeed joined Alba in 1997 as a security officer in the SHE department following which he was promoted to supervisory levels such as security supervisor (2002), fire superintendent (2007), SHE superintendent (2011) and marine operation superintendent (2014).

In 2016, he was promoted to SHE manager then to senior SHE manager in 2017, it said.

Saeed holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Safety Management from Bell Town University, US, Diploma in Fire Engineering from Morten-in-Marsh Fire Service College, UK and an executive MBA from French Arabian Business School (FABS), it added.

Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray said: “Saeed exemplifies our company’s philosophy to develop its people and promoting them from within the company to leadership positions.”

“He brings with him extensive knowledge and experience in various areas under environment, health and safety,” he said.

“I am confident that Saeed will elevate our safety initiatives as we get ready to take our place as the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelter with Line 6 operations,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
