Alba holds stakeholder meeting for Line 6 project

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based aluminium smelter, today (May 13) held its first Stakeholder Exhibitions Meeting (SEM) for its Line 6 Expansion Project, at the Awal Ballroom, Gulf Hotel, Manama.

In line with the requirements of the performance standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a World Bank affiliated lending organisation, the meeting was held to give all stakeholders an update on the Line 6 Expansion Project as well as a summary of the environment and social impact assessment (ESIA) for this project, said a statement.

Representatives of the government and ministries of Bahrain, non-government organisations (NGOs) and civil society organisations were the key invitees for the event, it said.

Alba’s executive management team led by its chief executive officer Tim Murray; chief power officer Amin Sultan; Line 6 Smelter director Shawqi Al Hashimi, presented at the meeting, where they highlighted various aspects related to the Line 6 project, it added.

Managers and representatives from Alba, Line 6 Expansion Project team and external independent auditor - Environment Arabia were also present at the meeting.

Commenting on this occasion, Murray said: “Line 6 Expansion Project has become reality and will keep our company competitive for the generations to come.”

“We trust that this structured platform will provide us with the opportunity to strengthen our ties with stakeholders as well as develop partnerships with all,” he said.

“On this occasion, I would like to thank all our stakeholders who have supported us on our journey to become the largest smelter in the world,” he added.

Alba will hold an open session for the public of Bahrain on May 14, at the Awal Ballroom in Gulf Hotel from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
