Bahrain completes 75pc of key road revamp

Bahrain’s Ministry of Works (MoW) has achieved 75 per cent progress in revamping Shaikh Abdulla Avenue from King Hamad Avenue to Bab Al Bahrain Avenue, reported Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

The project primarily serves Manama visitors and facilitates traffic in the area, Roads Projects & Maintenance Director, Sayed Bader Alawi, said.

"The BD179,330 ($475,000) project was serves approximately 207 commercial shops. Dilapidated asphalt layers have been removed, while brick has been laid in, in addition to rainwater drainage network implementation and ground channels for present and future usage, pavements and signage works construction," Alawi explained.

According to Alawi, the ministry is presently constructing a number of parking spaces and speed bumps and installing new lighting poles. The total length of revamped roads within the project is 1.6km.
