During a private ceremony held on Tuesday, February 5, the eminent 5-star Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain resort received the 2018 award for best creative direction of a hotel in the Capital Governorate of Bahrain. Winning the prestigious award for the eighth time, the award celebrates the artistic achievements of the lighting competition held each December 16 during the country’s National Day celebrations. The 2018 lighting display featured a cascade of red and white building lights over the 245-room luxury resort, in addition to the signature ‘tunnel of lights’ display which illuminated the main drive with 150,000 miniature LED bulbs and 280,000 meters of color-changing ribbons.

During the private ceremony, His Excellency Sheikh Hisham bin Abdul Rahman Al Khalifa, Governor of the Capital Governorate, presented the award to General Manager, Mr. Bernard de Villèle, who was quoted as saying: “We are honored and humbled to receive this prestigious award for the 8th time since the competition began, says Bernard de Villèle, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain. “Our lighting display gets more and more amazing, drawing crowds from near and far to admire its colorful illumination that lights up the Manama sky each year. Our magnificent display has become a symbol of innovation and solidarity during the National Day events, and would not be possible without the support and creative vision of our owning company, International Hotels Establishment.”
